Farmer's Wife Week 9!

I was way ahead of the game this week and made both my blocks on Wednesday afternoon. The lighting was good and I took some quick pictures and got the baby up from his nap, ran to pick up my son at preschool and my daughter who was having a visit at my mom's house and. completely. forgot. to. post. Usually I get a chance to work on my blocks on the weekend and then Sunday night edit a few photos and post them. There is a learning curve to this blogging and sample quilting ordeal.
    Here we go!
Let's just start with this shot. Isn't this block cute!? It has fabrics from the past revisited in a very straightforward way. Just 4 strips of 3 different fabrics. It could be pretty modern in some solids. (I would love to do this quilt in solids one day! Or maybe the city sampler? Will there ever be enough time....?)

While I was making this I played around with the order of fabrics and I was torn so I used the layout in the book for lights/darks. I'm not 100% on it still but I do think I'll leave it.

This block has generated the most responses this week in an online group I am part of on Facebook entitled "Let's Make a Farmer's Wife Quilt". If you're planning on making one this is a fun place to share you progress, bounce ideas around, (find the pdf for the templates on 16 pages instead of the many on your disc...ahem) and keep you excited about the upcoming blocks! It's like an anytime quilt along! Everyone is so encouraging! I think there are around 6500 members, too. Imagine all those people, all around the world, working on the same project at the same time...

How could I resist this star fabric for the Big Dipper block?! Well, clearly I could not! Nerp, no chance!

Looking forward to next week's blocks, posting ON TIME! And I will not promise this, but I will aim for it! ;)
